Camden County recently welcomed SaulPaul to keynote the Virtual S.U.R.E. Summit with members and students of the Camden County community in New Jersey. This event brought students from different communities to encourage dialogue around positive youth development issues and gave insight on helping them prepare for their next steps. Complimentary attendance for students was supported in partnership by the Camden County Youth Services Commission and multiple community partners.
The Be the Change Network produced this special virtual summit which fostered conversations focused on the way’s youth can influence and serve as leaders in their community. SaulPaul not only shared his story through music and spoken word, but also facilitated a group conversation on the impact of choices and leadership in the community. The participants enjoyed the interactive performance and presentation by SaulPaul. His signature freestyle also incorporated some of the student’s experiences and allowed them to participate in the creation of a song that was uniquely for them.
Members from the community also spoke including Freeholder Carmen Rodriguez and Freeholder Jonathan Young. They continued to affirm the idea that choices are what make our lives. The group left entertained from music and encouraged with SaulPaul’s words to keep learning and developing their talents and skills to Be the Change.
The event was sponsored by The Camden County Board of Freeholders and the Camden County Youth Services Commission. Partners for the event included the Community Planning and Advocacy Council, Camden County College, Covenant, the YMCA, and the Camden County Educational Services Commission.
