United Nations Foundation
Media entrepreneur and philanthropist Ted Turner founded the UN Foundation in 1998 because he believed the United Nations is indispensable to tackling humanity’s greatest challenges and driving global progress. The same belief guides us today.
The UN Foundation acts as a strategic partner to help the UN mobilize the ideas, people, and resources it needs to deliver, and grow a diverse and durable constituency for collective action. The UN Foundation focuses on issues at the heart of the Sustainable Development Goals, builds initiatives across sectors to solve problems at scale, and engages influencers and citizens who seek action. Partnership, and the power of smart and strategic collaboration, is in the UN Foundation’s DNA. They believe everyone has a part to play, everyone’s voice should be heard, and everyone has a stake.
UN75
In January 2020, the UN launched their global dialogue initiative, and discussions have taken place in all settings, from classrooms to boardrooms, across the world. In order to reach as many people as possible, the UN Foundation has built partnerships with youth, civil society, business and media organisations, and created a one-minute survey that is quick and easy to complete.
The UN Foundation has always placed strong emphasis on online engagement, through virtual dialogues and social media, and are now increasing their efforts in light of Covid-19. They are also working with their partners to take planned events into the digital space, and find innovative ways to engage audiences in line with WHO guidelines and local health regulations.
